That have passed before us. - Each age is characterized by its reigning philosophies. The spirit of this age consists of: nihilism, relativism, logical positivism, universalism, and postmodernism
- Scientific observational data is viewed in paradigmatic lenses [Kuhn, Feyerabend]
- Historical events are viewed in paradigmatic lenses
- We are not in a "post-history" world
- "Human progress" is illusory; we can regress in many areas while seemingly progressing in one. And by what standard is that one-dimensional progress anyway?
- Conventional empirical "science" has zero authority on questions of metaphysics [Hume, Wittgenstein]
- There are inherent patterns in reality that humans have the unique ability to identify [Campbell, Jung]
- There are no "neutral" worldviews in the negative sense. A lack of belief in one worldview is a positive belief in another, or an incoherent worldview
- The future of AI is model collapse, the decline of informational quality on the internet, erosion of digital privacy, and further growth of hyperreality [Baudrillard]
- The medium of media a person interacts with shapes the way they perceive the information, and the world [McLuhan]
- Human brains better comprehend concepts by physical experience; otherwise parables, heuristics, analogies, stories, examples as opposed to a list of statements and “facts”
- Musical preference has an outsized effect in shaping internal monologue and outlook on the world
- Time-tested heuristics > new-age optimization [Taleb, Gigarenzer]
